Conclave Review

This movie was thoroughly cinematic, especially with its use of cinematography. There were constant but effective use of longitudinal close-ups as the camera panned against the very tense scenes such as the voting. The cuts were very long but effectively demonstrated how dire a conclave is and how important is it that they make a well educated kind hearted decision on who to the next pope. I noticed the movie subtly demonstrated the seven deadly sins which is perfect as it is about a religious event. Pride being evident in the cardinals desire to be the Pope especially in Tedesco as he believed wholeheartedly his views were the most superior (it was also shown in Aldo's representation). Lust in the black cardinal's side story. Greed was represented within Lawrence as he was willing to ruin a fellow cardinal's reputation purely to gain more votes. Envy, also shown in Lawrence. Clueless review

  I really enjoyed this movie because of its humour and teenage girl concept. Cher is truly an ideal protagonist as she represent whit, and 'cluelessness' which both reinforces and subverts 'dumb' blonde girl stereotypes. I appreciated the concept of her being a popular girl but rather a nicer one with good intentions even though the majority of her actions only reflected her selfish desires, such as, seeing the new girl as a 'project' rather than a person, nevertheless she still helped her. The movie succeeded in showing a teenage girl life still keeping the unrealistic rich representation rather than the average high school representation which fits in well for the movie's diversion element rather than just a personal identity one. Despite it being obvious for rich people living in Beverly hills, in my onion is really represented how the 90's is typically presented as in the media, with the fashion sense in the boys typically rather than the girls...
