Feedback and learner response
1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full.
WWW: courier script, very good planning, very good performances, very good camera work, mise-en-scene (costumes, props, setting in cafeteria)
EBI: add sound track
2) Type up a summary of the feedback you have had from the rest of the class - bullet points is fine.
Good acting and good multi-rolling
3) Use all the feedback you've been given to write your own self-assessment of your video using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If...)
WWW: copied the acting and facial expression along with the body positions as good as good as we can.Focused carefully on the camera angles and shots to replicate it accurately
FF: Not only focus on what you can see but also with what you can hear e.g. background talking from other students, soundtrack in the original clip.
4) Now reflect on your own work in more detail. How did your planning (script, shot list) help clarify and develop your ideas? Planning and identifying how many camera shots there were as well as what angles there were made the filming go a lot quicker as we already knew how close it should be, or far, and whether it is direct or from an angle to the character so all we needed to do was focus on the acting and remembering our lines. Deciding the script was really easy as we only needed to focus on a few set of lines each, that were all really simple. Knowing this, I personally decided to focus on the emotion and how each lines were said in order to add them onto the scripting like how commonly used scripts are given to real actors to know how the director would like each line said.
5) Thinking technically, how could you improve your work for future videos? (E.g. filming, editing, audio levels etc.)
I would spend more time on the editing and try harder to understand the software i'm using to edit in order to create better effects and make my product as accurate as i'd originally want it to be. Hopefully in the future I will be good at audio levels in order to make it clear and have an effect. For example if I want an echo in a scene, hopefully I will be able to add that as an audio effect in the near future. With filming i hope i could get lighting better in order to keep all the correct scenes clear and visible and all the scenes I would like to be eerie, I would be able to achieve that.
6) Finally, what have you learned regarding the importance of mise-en-scene in film and television? Write a paragraph to answer this. I have learnt that everything on a screen conveys a meaning no matter how small or big it is. For example the costume, the style of a characters outfit and fashion sense connotes a lot of meaning the character such as their wealth, social status, personality and what kind if character they are in the the media creation. So when creating something with actors paying close attention to what is worn is very important and adds a better understanding to the mood scene for the audience. Another example is setting as it reflects the predictability of the scene and the story line and the characters, like: who they are, what they are doing, what is happening, whether or not something unexpected will happen and much more. Furthermore, the body language of and actor also conveys a lot of meaning, just as the costume, the mood and personality of a character as well as there aggression levels in a action or drama movie. In conclusion, I have learnt that every aspect of mise-en-scene should be considered and not overlooked especially because it is a reflection of how each of us infer things in real life so creators used that knowledge and implemented it into media creation to have a better effect.
