Sound learning response

Image
1) Type up your feedback from your teacher. WWW: Good coursework, Very good editing in parallel half, Good music video, Use of monochrome images, Good song choice, Use of appropriate footage. EBI: Same sized images, Less offensive in contrapuntal half. 2) Type up your feedback from fellow students - you can summarise key points if several students give you similar feedback. WWW: original images, good sound track, images matched well for the parallel half EBI: Same size for monochrome images, better editing for the transition between images. 3) Now  reflect  on your work and write your own evaluation of your video. Write a 'What went well' (WWW) paragraph and a paragraph for 'Even Better If' (EBI) underneath the rest of your feedback. In my opinion, what went well was how I understood the objective of the work and successfully portrayed the difference in contrapuntal and parallel sound . By making such a drastic difference in the type of clips used for each half in order...

Sound analysis

Image
  1) Find a film clip on YouTube that uses sound in an interesting way. Analyse the use of sound, making sure you use the key language we have learned about sound in film: Diegetic and non-diegetic sound Parallel and contrapuntal sound Sound bridges Remember to discuss/analyse all the different types of sound present in the clip: Music Dialogue Voiceover Sound effects You also need to  highlight  or put in  bold  any use of media language. This is a scene from the movie "Perks of being a Wallflower" known as the "tunnel scene". The use of the diegetic sound is very parallel towards the scene. The setting of the scene and the actions of the characters present to the audience a very calming sense and feeling; the music adds to it and creates a stronger feeling towards what is happening in the narrative . The dialogue of the characters show excitement and calmness in them. The girl being intrigued to know the song and wanting to stand at the back of the car to...

Sound: practical task

Image
We decided to use the song "Beauty and the Beat" by Nicki Minaj and Justin Beiber as the sound track. To present the song as both parallel and contrapuntal we chose images that fit the song well; as it is typically a party sound we used videos of prom and dancing which made the sound track parallel. To make the sound track contrapuntal we used depressing images of war, Adolf Hitler and war and of sad children and animals which is completely unexpected for a song like "Beauty and the Beat"

Lighting

Image
Photo 1  -uses  lowkey lighting -uses  top lighting  on the left to create a shadow  on the right  -it accentuates her face structure to show she may be a  femme fatale  as she's holding a cigarette, connoting she is evil or "bad" Photo 2   -   high-key lighting  -  top lighting  -creates an effect of power and him being superior  -warrior like - top lights  makes some shadows  under his eyes to make them darker to show he is tough Photo 3  -  lowkey lighting -  top lighting -creates an  effect  of superiority and  power  as he is presented as a strong being and the use of a lower angle  helps to identify his power and look more intimidating Photo 4 -  lowkey lighting -  under lighting -a   shadow  is created by putting the   light  on the left side of her which creates an  enigma code  because she's hiding from something o...

Feedback and learner response

  1) Type up your feedback from your teacher in full. WWW: courier script, very good planning, very good performances, very good camera work, mise-en-scene (costumes, props, setting in cafeteria) EBI:  add sound track 2) Type up a summary of the feedback you have had from the rest of the class - bullet points is fine. Good acting and good multi-rolling 3) Use all the feedback you've been given to write your own self-assessment of your video using WWW (What Went Well) and EBI (Even Better If...)  WWW: copied the acting and facial expression along with the body positions as good as good as we can.Focused carefully on the camera angles and shots to replicate it accurately FF: Not only focus on what you can see but also with what you can hear e.g. background talking from other students, soundtrack in the original clip. 4) Now reflect on your own work in more detail. How did your planning (script, shot list) help clarify and develop your ideas? Planning and identifying how ...
